When most people think about Inner Mongolia, they probably imagine vast grasslands and rolling deserts dotted with traditional Mongolian tents, or ‘yurts’, wandering camels and Mongolian horsemen galloping at great speed across the distant horizon. Now, there’s an easy way to immerse yourself in all this exotic culture – with none of the usual discomforts of desert exploration but all of the thrills.
Our tour begins in Huhhot, the capital of the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region, with a half-day city tour to your choice of any two attractions, including the Cashmere Market, Muslim Culture Street, Antique Market, Dazhao Temple and Zhaojun Tomb in a comfortable limousine provided by Shangri-La Hotel, Huhhot.
On day two, you can enjoy the mystical desert scenery of Sounding Sand Bay, and simply admire the sandy landscape or – as optional extras – take part in exciting desert activities, such as camel riding, sand skating, sand sculpture or a traditional Erdos wedding ceremony.
While heading out to the Gegentala Grassland on day three, you’ll pay a visit to the Qing Dynasty Prince’s Mansion and Lama Temple. A reserved front-row VIP table and traditional Mongolian show already awaits for an entertaining lunch on the grassland. Later, you can visit a traditional Mongolian yurt, sample Mongolian milk tea and enjoy a traditional Mongolian wrestling performance. An exciting ride in an All-Terrain Vehicle and horse-riding are available later in the afternoon. After enjoying a set dinner in a Yurt VIP dining room, you can participate in a camp-fire gathering and watch an outdoor Mongolian cultural performance, before spending the night under the stars in a Deluxe Charriot Mongolian Yurt.
