PHOTO OF THE WEEK : Taichung Moments IV

This photograph was taken by the crew of DigitlRev TV. This photo has shown us the difference between to keep and to demolish. Mr. Wong, a Hong Kong-borned retired soldier living in the Rainbow Military Village, started drawing on his own wall from 2008 and later to the other houses in the village. His drawing brings the village colors and changing its fate from being demolished by government.
From Mr Wong’s own blog:
“I wish to preserve the rainbow-liked memory of this little village by this free but priceless method. Welcome to visit the Rainbow Military Village”
To visit the special village, Stay tuned for Friday’s DigitalRev itinerary and to learn more about the crew’s experiences in Taichung

"The trip to Taichung was a remarkable experience and — thanks to Cathay Pacific Holidays — Digitalrev TV had the opportunity to visit this idyllic place and shoot a series of special videos."

"This was my first trip to Taiwan, so I was really looking forward to visiting different locations. Although it was a short tip, we managed to pack in a tight shooting schedule and and met some friendly people along the way."

"Taichung is probably best known for its stunning landscapes, and  I couldn’t wait to visit places such as Sun Moon Lake and the Wetlands. Photos from the Internet and travel guide-books already look great, and the  views we experienced were really spectacular."

"If you ask me which part of the trip that I enjoyed most, I would choose the night markets (not only for the shopping), but the vibrant culture and the people you see there."

'One thing that I really appreciate about Taiwanese culture is their relaxed lifestyle; at places like convenience stores or street-corner cafes, you can always find nice seating  outside to enjoy a drink, and have a chat.”

A little tip when travelling to Taichung at this time of year: always bring an umbrella and  (for the ladies) rain boots!

PHOTO OF THE WEEK : Taichung Moments

This photograph was taken at night on the streets of Taichung by Alamby of DigitlRev TV.  What we like about this photograph is that it’s one of those “magical moment” street photos.  A boy bends down to tie his girlfriend’s shoelace … the red Chinese characters on the shop’s security grille, the neon lights, night shadows and the crowd walking by … a simple story told well.
In Alamby’s own words:
“This was a snapshot I took at Yizhong Night Market on the evening we arrived at Taichung. We just happened to walk past this lovely couple and the scene caught my eye. No technique or staging, it was just a simple click on my iPhone to capture a touching moment in a memorable city.”
